Matthew Santos opened for Gin Wigmore at Velvet Underground in Toronto on April 8. He's a fantastic singer, songwriter, guitarist and loop-pedal manipulator. He engages the audience with stories, including a couple about how his songs' meanings have been misinterpreted to hilarious and dirty-minded results.

For one song, I believe it was "White Gloves", Matthew mentioned in the introduction that it sounds better with a live band, and at just the right time, Gin Wigmore's band appeared on stage to back up Matthew and finish the song. Needless to say, it sounded great.

Matthew then closed out his set with a fantastic version of Leonard Cohen's classic "Hallelujah".
