Ellis, also known as Hamilton, Ontario-based indie rock singer songwriter Linnea Siggelko, and her band put on a great set at this year’s Hillside Festival. I love the band's sound mixed with the touching vocals and songs.
Check out some of Ellis' music below, and you can also see photos from the two times I've seen them perform at Longboat Hall, most recently earlier this year, and back in 2018.
All the links to all the coverage of all the performers we saw at Hillside 2019 are in one post right here.
Hamilton, Ontario-based indie rock singer songwriter Linnea Siggelkow, known by her band name Ellis, played at Toronto's Longboat Hall at The Great Hall between headliners Ellevator and Basement Revolver. Please click through for my coverage of those two great sets.
I saw Ellis once before at this very venue. Click here for that post. She impressed me then and she solidified that impression with this performance. I love her soft voice against distorted guitar and a cacophony of cymbals. I got some great shoegaze vibes with swirly guitars, too.
Ellis was the first band to hit the Longboat Hall stage last night for a Saturday filled with emotive and innovative music. They were warming things up for Long Beard and headliners Soccer Mommy. They confessed that they don't have any music available online yet, but are starting to record this week.
I liked their personal and introspective, dynamic and emotional music. I'll be looking forward to their releases and more shows.
