I really enjoy Vancouver's Louise Burns' music. Especially the super addictive and expertly crafted "Emeralds Shatter". The vocals, the guitar hook and the overall aesthetic come together perfectly. All of her music has an intricate beauty that takes me away to a happier place.

I caught her live show when she played Kensington Market's Handlebar during last year's NXNE and I got the opportunity to see her again last week opening for The Zolas at a sold-out Opera House.

She and the band have a fresh new album out. It's called Young Mopes and we got to hear a bunch of new tracks in addition to some older favourites.

Give Louise's beautiful music a listen and make sure you don't miss her live show.

When I saw Louise Burns' name on the bill for NXNE, I knew I wanted to catch her show. I love her music, perhaps most of all the song "Emeralds Shatter". She and her band (including a familiar face from Ladyhawk on guitar) did a great job presenting her timeless pop with impeccable vocals. She treated us to a new tune called "Pharaoh" and a cover of The Sundays "Here's Where the Story Ends".

Relax, it's Louise Burns

Louise Burns put out her latest album back in the warm and sunny days of July. I just discovered this track and am rather enjoying the reverb laden guitars and soothing melody. The track is "Emeralds Shatter" and it's from the album The Midnight Mass.

Louise Burns is right on target

There's a whole 60s girl group with lots of fuzz trend going on these days and Louise Burns is right on target with the trend. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a whole long way from her old band. She's also long-listed for the prestigious Polaris Prize.

Here's "What Do You Wanna Do?" from the album Mellow Drama.
