Happy Canada Day: Classic Canadian Alternative compendium

I've been enjoying going back in time and reminding myself of the great Canadian bands that changed the course of independent and alternative music back from the late 80s to early 90s. Why not enjoy some Classic Canadian Alternative while celebrating Canada's birthday on Canada Day?

Classic Canadian Alternative: Pure

Pure got started in 1991 in Vancouver. I was introduced to their 1992 album Pureafunalia in university and really dug their high energy power pop songs. I also enjoyed the follow up Generation Six-Pack that came out in 1994.

Back in 2012, guitarist Todd Simko passed away.

Take a listen to these awesomely infectious tunes.

"Zen"

"Blast"

"Blissful Kiss"

"Wow"

"Tall Grass"

"Love is Cool"

"Anna is a Speed Freak"

"Lemonade"

Pure

Last month, Todd Simko from Pure passed away. A friend introduced me to Pure when their Purefunalia album came out in 1992. I became an instant fan. I enjoyed lots of their tunes, but sadly, there aren't many available to post here.  I'll have to stick to the most popular - the great tune "Blast".
