I attended The Subways' Toronto show at The Mod Club on April 19 as a fan. However, I couldn't resist bringing my point-and-shoot camera along for the ride. In the end, I thought my pictures were worth sharing so here they are.

The English rock band have been a favourite of mine for a long time and they've been on the concert wish list for a while. This tour in support of their eponymous album brought them to T.O. so I had to go. The set was strong including tunes from all their albums, 2005's début Young For Eternity, 2008's All or Nothing, 2011's Money and Celebrity and last year's The Subways.

The band have a stupid amount of energy and they put their all into every show. It was a pleasure to see their live show and it was well worth the wait, although I hope I don't have to wait too long before seeing them again.

New Subways album out now

The Subways have just released a new, self-titled album. Back in June, I featured the song "Pumping to a Brand New Beat" and now we get the official video for "Taking All The Blame". They're streaming the whole album on their site, so check it out.

These guys are a high-energy alt-rock band that I would love to see when they hit a Toronto-area stage.

The Subways are Pumping to a Brand New Beat

The Subways have their first single in 18 months coming out on June 23. It's called "My Heart Is Pumping To A Brand New Beat" and it's got a great riff, a driving beat and you know it'll get everyone jumping.

Songs that made me smile

I was listening to some random tunes the other day and I noticed a few that made me smile. See if they do the same for you.

Those Dancing Days "I'll Be Yours" from Daydreams And Nightmares,

Guards "Ready to Go" from In Guards We Trust,

The New Amsterdams "Fountain of Youth" from 2008's At The Foot Of My Rival,

Eleanor Friedberger "Stare at the Sun" from her latest Personal Record,

and The Subways "I Wanna Dance With You" from 2011's Money And Celebrity.

The Subways

While The Subways is a pretty uninteresting band name, I love the way their boy-girl vocals mix and I love the super high energy in their music. Definitely on my "see live" list.

They're from the UK and they've put out three albums, 2005's Young For Eternity, 2008's All Or Nothing and 2011's Money And Celebrity.

From Money And Celebrity:
"Kiss Kiss Bang Bang"

"We Don't Need Money To Have A Good Time"

"It's a Party"

From All Or Nothing:
"Girls and Boys"

"Alright"

"I Won't Let You Down"

"Shake Shake"

From Young For Eternity:
"Rock and Roll Queen"

"Oh Yeah"

"With You"
