Twenty years ago: Tracy Bonham The Burdens of Being Upright

Twenty years ago today, Tracy Bonham's The Burdens of Being Upright came out. The album has a number of really great tunes that have stood the test of time. In fact, I find that the aggressive sound and self-confident attitude of Tracy and her songs has found its way back to several bands of today.

Thirty-five years ago: The Who Face Dances

The Who is currently out on what may be their last tour. The legendary band has been going strong since 1964 so they certainly deserve a fine retirement. Thirty-five years ago today, they released their first album after the death of drummer Keith Moon. It's called Face Dances and it has many songs that hold a special place in my musical upbringing, especially the first two tracks, "You Better You Bet" and "Don't Let Go the Coat". If I recall correctly, this is another album that I might not have discovered if it were not for the fine library system we have here in Toronto.

New music from White Denim: Had 2 Know (Personal) from Stiff

Austin band White Denim's new album Stiff is out March 25. They've just let us in on a third hard-driving, jammable, southern-rock tinged tune. This one's called "Had 2 Know (Personal)" and you can stream it below.

In case you missed them, check out "Holda You (I'm Psycho)" and "Ha Ha Ha Ha (Yeah)" from the parenthetically inclined jam-rockers. Yee haw!
