Montreal post-punk band Ought played a mind bending set at Royal Mountain Records Festival. I really like these guys, their performance and their hypnotic grooves that grow on you. They've got a totally unselfconscious uniqueness that sets them apart and has to draw you in.
Sometimes it feels like this was the summer of Dizzy. I caught their main stage show at Field Trip, I saw them at Osheaga, I attended their Baby Teeth album release party and finally saw them at Royal Mountain Records Festival.
Wow.
I love Dizzy. I love the music. I love their performances. Most of all, I love where their music takes me. I float. I smile. I move. It brings a tear to my eye.

East-coast Canadian indie rock supergroup Tuns was next up on the Royal Mountain Records Festival stage at Hamilton's Royal Botanical Gardens Arboretum. They played their solid indie pop / power pop tunes for an appreciative audience soaking up one of the last scorcher days of summer.

I'd say that Little Junior create perfect power pop. It's a fantastic indie rock brand that has familiar touchpoints with a unique personality that's dripping with attitude and an undercurrent of positivity. The imagery and melodies come together into a powerful mix. I love listening to their tunes, seeing them live, and look forward to what they produce in future.
Little pieces of their show, like the dedications to their enemy, have caught on quick with audiences. The songs are catching on big-time, judging from the number of people singing along at their shows. Calpurnia's Ayla Tesler-Mabe joined them on stage for the second last song, as the crowd and band showed what a great time they can have together.

Everett Bird was the first band up on stage at the inaugural edition of Royal Mountain Records festival in the beautiful confines of Hamilton, Ontario's Royal Botanical Gardens.
The band cram so many genres into their music. I love how they all collide into a delicious indie rock stew. Their set was a fantastic way to kick off an amazing day at a festival that I hope becomes an annual tradition.
