From the opening sequences and samples of "Stars and Moons", along with Katie Munshaw's emotive vocals, I'm transported away by music that is easy on the ears, with emotional depth, an evocative timbre and expressive melodies. I love that the themes are relatable and the stories are down-to-earth. "In Time" has become a longed-for moment in a Dizzy set, setting my body swaying and my voice longing to join in.
It was incredible to hear every track from Baby Teeth performed live. I hope you'll check out the music embedded below if you're not already familiar with it, and if you get the chance to see the band live, don't miss them. Katie's captivating, unselfconscious and honest stage presence combined with the way the songs come across live is amazing to experience. I have a funny feeling that the album, along with several songs, will be high on my best of 2018 lists.
I first experienced Dizzy at Hillside 2016. Those photos are here. I didn't get a chance to see them live again until Field Trip 2018 and by that time I was enthralled by the full-on captivating spell of their music. Those photos are here. I did see them deliver a magical Osheaga set and took a few snaps with my point-and-shoot that I may publish, and they were absolutely breathtaking at Royal Mountain Records Festival. Those photos are still in the queue, unfortunately.
