Video for Brody Dalle's Don't Mess With Me

Back in May, Canadian Music Week was in town. Brody Dalle was one of the legendary artists who was playing a room much smaller than their status and it presented a great opportunity for fans to check them out live. Too bad only a few wristband holders were able to get in.

At the time of the show, I didn't want to risk my good photo gear with what I knew would be a crazy pit situation. I took some snaps with my iPhone but thought that they weren't worthy of the site.

After getting over myself a bit, and posting iPhone pics for Field Trip, and with the news that Brody has done an official video for "Don't Mess with Me" from her first album under her own name Diploid Love, I thought I'd clean up the shots a bit and post a couple to accompany this post.
So, long story even longer, here are the pics, and the new clip. And if you get the chance, see Brody Dalle live. The energy is insane.

And just because it's such an amazing song, here's "Ghetto Love" from Spinnerette's self-titled album.

Garbage with Brody Dalle tune Girls Talk

For Record Store Day, Garbage released a tune called "Girls Talk" featuring the awesome Brody Dalle. It's got a dark intensity that's somehow perfect.

Brody Dalle is in Toronto for Canadian Music Week, playing at The Horseshoe tonight with Kennedy Cult and The Box Tiger. I'm headin' down...

More new Brody Dalle tunes from Diploid Love

Brody Dalle's new album Diploid Love just came out April 29. She's hitting up The Horseshoe in Toronto on May 7 for Canadian Music Week. We've already heard "Meet the Foetus / Oh The Joy" with Shirley Manson of Garbage on backing vocals. Now we get to hear "Blood In Gutters" (Slaughterhouse Five reference?), "Don't Mess With Me" and "Parties for Prostitutes", and if it's still up you can stream the album at Exclaim.

I'm really looking forward to seeing, and hopefully photographing, her show.

New music from Brody Dalle coming soon

Brody Dalle sang for The Distillers, then she had a band called Spinnerette that had an awesome tune called "Ghetto Love" that I featured on the blog in 2011. Well, now Brody has new music on the way.

Check out "Meet the Foetus / Oh The Joy" from her forthcoming solo album. Shirley Manson of Garbage is on backing vocals.
