I caught Walk Off The Earth during their headlining show on Day 1 of Riverfest Elora. Two weeks later, they were playing The Bandshell at The Ex. I was drawn to the show for openers The Beaches, and I hung out to catch Walk Off The Earth's fun set. Check out my pics from Riverfest Elora here.
WOTE's Ex performance was welcomed by an excited audience with signs, make-up and costumes, singing along and dancing. The show was definitely fun for all ages. It was the last night of performances at The Bandshell and WOTE's show was a fun way to end off The Ex for 2016. It certainly was the biggest crowd I saw at The Bandshell this year by far.
This year marked my first time attending and covering Riverfest Elora. It was a fun, well organized and well curated festival that I'll certainly have in my calendar for next year. I recommend you do, too!

Burlington Ontario pop band Walk Off The Earth were the main-stage headliners for the first night of Riverfest Elora. I had heard their album Sing It All Away and liked their infectiously addictive pure pop tunes. I was expecting an excellent, high-energy performance with top notch production values and tons of fun. We certainly got all of that.
What surprised me was the sheer number of cover songs in their set, the frequent repetition of the "Sing It All Away" refrain and what I've started calling "the wedding band medley". They covered Adele's "Hello" and OMI's "Cheerleader", and late in their set, they performed a medley including Gotye's "Somebody That I Used To Know", Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball", Magic's "Rude", Justin Bieber's "Love Yourself", The Four Tops' "I Can't Help Myself", The Temptations' "My Girl", and "Twist and Shout". Looking at their YouTube page, it seems that they really like doing covers so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised.
Check out some of their music: and check them out at The Ex on September 4 with the excellent Beaches opening. It will certainly be a wall-to-wall fun dance party.
