New music from Garbage: Empty

Garbage have a new album on the way. It's called Strange Little Bird and it's coming out June 10. It's been said that this album harkens back to their 20 year old début (which I featured on its anniversary) and this powerhouse track would certainly be at home on that now-classic album.

Give a listen to the first single from Strange Little Birds, "Empty".

Garbage Garbage is 20

I think that everyone knows Garbage and many Garbage tunes. It all got started with Garbage's self-titled album, which came out twenty years ago today. I remember first hearing "Queer" and being blown away by Shirley Manson's voice, the sound of the tune and the song itself.

The album was a massive success right from its release and it garnered many hit singles. The band is currently on tour playing the entire album. They hit Toronto for a show at The Phoenix Concert Theatre on October 26.

"Supervixen"

"Queer"

"Only Happy When It Rains"

"Vow"

"Stupid Girl"

"Dog New Tricks"

"Fix Me Now"

"Milk"

Garbage with Brody Dalle tune Girls Talk

For Record Store Day, Garbage released a tune called "Girls Talk" featuring the awesome Brody Dalle. It's got a dark intensity that's somehow perfect.

Brody Dalle is in Toronto for Canadian Music Week, playing at The Horseshoe tonight with Kennedy Cult and The Box Tiger. I'm headin' down...

My favourite songs: Awesome and cool songs of 2012: My best of list: Top 60 songs: #60-41

It's been a great year for indie-alternative music. Maybe it's because I've been putting more emphasis on seeking out great music for the blog, or maybe it's just intergalactic forces. Whatever it is, I'll take it.

Just to avoid consistency of any kind, I've abandoned last year's idea of doing 2 year best of posts, like doing "The Best of 2011-2012".

Here's post number one featuring songs 60-41 of my favourite 60 songs released in 2012.

60. "Dollar Chills" DZ Deathrays

59. "We Were Children" Tribes

58. "Anxiety" Ladyhawke

57. "My Girl" Yukon Blonde

56. "Youth Without Youth" Metric

More Garbage

Okay, just because I'm slacking a bit while I put together posts on the Kasabian and The Joy Formidable shows I recently attended, I'll post more Garbage.  Here's the official video for "Blood for Poppies" from their upcoming album Not Your Kind Of People.  It's out May 15, if you didn't already know.

Another new Garbage track

Not Your Kind of People is coming out May 15, and Garbage keep teasing out new tracks.  This one's called "Battle In Me" and, like the other tracks they've released, it really brings me back to their classic albums and make me want to pick this one up when it's released.

New Garbage!

Garbage have a new album called Not Your Kind of People coming out May 15 and have just released a full track for us to check out.  It's called "Blood for Poppies" and it sounds good to me!  You can get your very own copy at their web site.

If you didn't see it elsewhere before, here's a preview of "I Hate Love", also from the upcoming album.
