Hillside 2019: Day 2: Yonatan Gat and the Eastern Medicine Singers - Concert Photos

Yonatan Gat and The Eastern Medicine Singers played their unique and wonderful cultural mash up on the main stage of Hillside Festival. We've covered the psychedelic and improvisational guitar hero  and the Algonquin drum group when they played at Lee's Palace, and when Yonatan played with his own band at Smiling Buddha.

Hillside 2019: Day 2: Richard Reed Parry's Quiet River of Dust - Concert Photos

Best known for his role in Arcade Fire, Richard Reed Parry brought his Quiet River of Dust to Hillside 2019. He and the band played with dynamic emotion and the crowd was honoured to be the first audience in Ontario to hear the new album performed live.

From beautiful Vancouver Island come Carmanah. They played rootsy and bluesy tunes that got some Hillside attendees off their butts to dance.

The band did some dancing of their own after their set, enjoying the downpour that followed.

Toronto's Joyful Joyful filled their Hillside tent with soothing sounds and beautiful vocals. I was blown away by the beautiful sounds that this duo produced.

Their bio says they don't sound like anything else, and I'd say that's perfectly correct. Please check them out below.

Quantum Tangle are a band that mash up traditional Inuit throat-singing, spoken word and blues-folk-rock into a unique and engaging blend. They’ve won Juno Awards and brought their passion to the Hillside main stage for a very cool set.
