Lavender Wild Festival: A compendium of posts - Concert Photos

This past Sunday, June 4 was a crazy traffic day in Toronto. Two of the four main highways that circle the city were closed for the Ride for Brain Health. It's a great cause and it's a fun ride (it's pretty awesome to ride a bike on the highway) but it snarls traffic pretty brutally.

So it took ages for me to get to Echo Beach for Lavender Wild Festival, and I missed the first act, but I'm happy I made it.

Lavender Wild is a one-day music and art festival celebrating queerness. Girl In Red, Hayley Kiyoko, The Aces and G Flip were some of the headliners on a day packed with positive vibes. And it was a beautiful day for it! I hope that Lavender Wild will become an annual fixture on the Toronto music festival scene.

Oslo's Girl In Red was the headliner for Lavender Wild and took to the main stage a while after sunset.

The set started off with high, high energy. Girl In Red rocketed from one side of the stage to the other, giving out as much energy as the crowd could give back.

They played a set filled with great tunes including "girls", "body and mind", "we fell in love in october", "serotonin", "bad idea!", "dead girl in the pool", and "did you come?". It was a great way to end off a perfect day of music, sun, love, positive vibes and inclusivity.

Lavender Wild Festival, a one-day festival celebrating queerness, took place on June 4 at Echo Beach on the Toronto waterfront. My coverage of each main-stage artist can all be found from one master post here. I hope you enjoy all my coverage of this cool festival!

Best of: Top 50 of 2019: My favourite songs of 2019

Looking back at old posts, I see that it's been 10 years since I posted my first "best of" post back at the end of 2009. Back then, I did a list of my favourite 25 songs and favourite 30 albums, in no particular order. Since then, I've been putting together lists of my favourite songs and albums of each year and more recently my favourite concert photos of the year, starting back in 2014. This year is no exception with my favourite songs of the year below, my favourite albums of the year right over here and my favourite concert photos of the year right here. Hope you enjoy the list. You can now find it on Spotify and on Apple Music, too, along with a bunch of previous best-of lists.

2019 sucked in a whole host of ways, but music is definitely not included in the suckage. Hopefully you agree that 2019 was a really good year for music, that you find some songs in the list that you loved, and you hopefully find some new discoveries.
