Wayhome Music & Arts Festival has announced their 2017 line-up. Headlined by Imagine Dragons, Frank Ocean, Flume, Justice, Solange, Marshmello, Vance Joy, Schoolboy Q, Tegan and Sara and The Shins, plus a cool list of others and more TBA, it looks like another great festival.
Festival passes go on sale this Friday February 17! Don't miss this summer festival highlight!
Who would I most like to see from this stacked list of artists? Thought you'd never ask.

Canadian Music Week, CMW, is ringing in its 34th year from May 2-8, 2016 in various venues around Toronto. There are club shows, the iHeart Radio Festival, the Indie Awards, a.k.a. "The Indies", and much more. These festivals are amazing for seeing your favourite bands, the coolest up-and-coming artists and for checking out new bands. You're guaranteed to find some new artists to grace your music library.
The very cool line-up features personal favourite Bob Mould, Tegan and Sara, Skepta, Dilly Dally, No Joy, and David Bowie’s longtime producer Tony Visconti with his band Holy Holy, along with Eagles of Death Metal, The Strumbellas, Wintersleep, Sate, The Beaches, Partner, Wild Nothing, Royal Canoe, Le Sera, Tops, White Lung, Duchess Says, Dearly Beloved, guitar gods Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt and Yngwie Malmesteen and much more.
This song has been coming up on a Spotify playlist and I'm really enjoying it. Nothing too deep here, just a great song that's got an instant familiarity. It's got an amazingly 80s vibe to the vocal delivery, the arrangement and the song structure. Timeless and reminiscent of an earlier time.
If you're not already familiar with it - and it's not exactly brand spanking new - give it a listen. It's called "When You Were Mine" from Night Terrors of 1927 album Everything's Coming Up Roses (hey! I wrote a song by that name!) and it features the vocal stylings of Canada's two and only Tegan & Sara.
Those music-loving folks at The Polaris Music Prize have released this year's long list of nominees. I'll be picking through it and discovering some new stuff I've never heard before, but for now, I'll just post a few of the familiar standouts from the list, from my perspective.
Best of luck to all the nominees for exposure, success and music-making.
Tegan and Sara have taken their time growing on me. There have been some hits, like "Back in Your Head" from The Con, and "Walking With A Ghost" and "Speak Slow" from So Jealous. And some misses. Their new album Sainthood came out a few weeks ago and the first single "Hell" has a video. Here they are performing the song on Conan. Tight performance.
Their previous album, The Con, is available on emusic, but their new one isn't. Did they switch to a major or are they still on an indie that wants to grab as many sales as possible from iTunes first?
A few more tunes from the new album are up for streaming at their myspace.
