New Alabama Shakes song Don't Wanna Fight from Sound & Color

Alabama Shakes took the world by storm with the amazing "Hold On" from their 2012 album Boys & Girls. The wait for new Alabama Shakes is coming to a close. Check out the catchy, funky "Don't Wanna Fight" from their forthcoming album Sound & Color. Gotta love how the opening vocal squeal shakes everything you thought you knew about the band.

Check out the tune below and await the album's April 21 release. Of course, they're doing what every band does after releasing an album, they're heading out on the road. They're in Toronto on June 6 for Field Trip. I'm definitely looking forward to this release and to catching this band live. I keep kicking myself that I missed their Toronto show at Lee's Palace.

Alabama Shakes play a song for vampires

Here's something new from Alabama Shakes called "Pocket Change". Somehow it's absolutely perfect that this song is from the latest True Blood soundtrack.

One of my biggest live music regrets is that I didn't go to their show at Lee's Palace in Toronto. It would have been amazing to see such a great talent in such an intimate venue.

My favourite songs: Awesome and cool songs of 2012: My best of list: Top 60 songs: #40-21

It's been a great year for indie-alternative music. Maybe it's because I've been putting more emphasis on seeking out great music for the blog, or maybe it's just intergalactic forces. Whatever it is, I'll take it.

Just to avoid consistency of any kind, I've abandoned last year's idea of doing 2-year best of posts, like doing "The Best of 2011-2012".

Here's post number two featuring songs 40-21 of my favourite 60 songs released in 2012.

40. "Ropes That Way" Dirty Ghosts

39. "Lost Kids" Blood Red Shoes

38. "Are You Gonna Waste My Time?" Zeus

Great blues from Alabama Shakes

Here's another great soulful blues tune from Alabama Shakes. This one's called "I Ain't the Same" and it's from Boys and Girls. I really should have made it out to their show when they came through Toronto in October.

Here's another one called "Always Alright" from the film Silver Linings Playbook.

Alabama Shakes Hang Loose

Another fantastic Alabama Shakes song. This one's called "Hang Loose". Boys & Girls is an awesome album if you like this soulful sound.

Great slice of soul from Alabama Shakes

Here's Alabama Shakes with an instant classic soul number called "Hold On". I imagine they would shine in a live setting. Sorry I missed them in their recent Toronto stop at Lee's Palace.

Here's the official video

And their appearance on Letterman.

The album, Boys & Girls, is out now.
