Ottawa-based singer/songwriter Kalle Mattson was the first artist I experienced on the Wax on Wheels Stage at this year’s Riverfest Elora. His chill tunes were a perfect ease-in to the festival.
I had caught Kalle Mattson’s set at Field Trip back in 2016. My photos from that show are here.
All of my Riverfest Elora 2019 posts can be accessed from one master post here. I hope you'll take a look and a listen.
Ottawa-based musician Kalle Mattson and his band were up first on the Fort York stage this past Sunday to kick off day two of Field Trip 2016. This show marked the first gig with all five band members together. They performed some nice mellow tunes to start the day and they saved the big hit "Avalanche" for last.
Field Trip has announced their 2016 line-up and what a great line-up it is. The National, one of the biggest indie alternative bands out there and a personal favourite, is headlining along with one of the most unique antipop stars out there, and also a personal favourite, Robyn. July Talk, one of the absolute best live bands playing these days, is listed next. Also on the stacked bill are Santigold, Of Montreal, DIIV, Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Jazz Cartier, Boy & Bear, Bully, Holy Fuck, Plants & Animals, Basia Bulat, Dear Rouge, Ra Ra Riot, Tei Shi, Eliot Sumner, Meg Mac, Brave Shores and Kalle Mattson. Consistent with years passed, this is a diverse line-up that will attract a wide variety of music fans and lead to some amazing discoveries.
