Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII at The Theatre at The Great Canadian Resort Casino - A Compendium of Posts - Concert Photos

I had just returned from a very, very special long weekend when I enthusiastically started editing and writing my photos and thoughts from this amazing festival weekend. Then I got sick, which put a stop to all that creativity and delayed these posts. Better late than never, am I right? 

I would call myself a Frank Turner fan. I love his music, I've been to a handful of shows, and I've covered them with photos and a few thoughts on my site here. 

When I requested to cover Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII, I had no idea what a special event it was.

It was four days at Toronto's Great Canadian Casino Resort, with four headlining Frank Turner shows, each with it's own theme, opening acts and a second stage with its own lineup. There were panel discussions during the day on a variety of topics including a talk between Frank and Henry Rollins, an AMA with Frank, and sessions on the Canadian Music Scene, Women in Music and Media, the Economics of Being an Independent Artist, and How Lost Evenings Comes Together. They also had the Cowboy Chords open-mic stage and Needles Flickering pop-up tattoo event by the So Far So Good Tattoo Studio. And all this including fund raising opportunities for some very special charities and social services.

And then there was the whole mood and vibe of the event. Frank Turner fans are a dedicated bunch, and friendly, community-minded people with good hearts and open souls. It was uplifting to be in the company of this community for the weekend.

Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls on Night 4 at Lost Evenings VII - Concert Photos

The fourth and final night of Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII in Toronto featured a Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls Greatest Hits career-spanning setlist. 

We were promised a greatest hits set and that's what we got. It started off with lots of excitement, the amazing "I Knew Prufrock Before He Got Famous", followed by a guest harmonica solo by Arkells' Max Kerman on "I Still Believe" followed by one of my favourite songs and one that helped get me through some very tough times, "Get Better". The set continued strong, highlighted by "Punches", "The Next Storm", "Haven't Been Doing So Well", "Plain Sailing Weather" and the tear-jerker "A Wave Across the Bay". We then got a fantastic solo set that included "The Ballad of Me and My Friends", "Long Live the Queen" and "Photosynthesis". The encore featured "Recovery" and closed with "Four Simple Words".

What an amazing festival! I left the venue floating on a cloud of good vibes. Thank you to Frank, the venue staff and all the crew that makes these uplifting and soul-sustaining experiences possible.

Bedouin Soundclash at Lost Evenings VII - Concert Photos

Bedouin Soundclash performed on the main stage on night 4 of Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII in Toronto.

Their easy-going tunes were much-loved by the crowd.

Hailing from Bloomington, Indiana, Murder by Death kicked things off on the main stage on the fourth and final day of Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII in Toronto. 

Their music is expansive, elaborate and intricate, powerful and emotional. Their setlist from this show is here.

The first time I caught a Murder by Death show was back in 2015 at the dearly missed TURF festival.

The Shackletons had the honour of being the last act to perform on the Nick Alexander Stage at Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII in Toronto.

They play energetic and powerful rock music with intense and hard rocking attitude. They became my favourite discovery of the day. (I even got to catch a few tunes by them on the Cowboy Chords stage after the festival's official end). Check out their music below.

"Back Roads"

Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls on Night 3 at Lost Evenings VII - Concert Photos

Night 3 of Frank Turner's Lost Evenings VII in Toronto was Hard Core night. We heard the entirety of Frank's latest album Undefeated, followed by a punk rock set and an encore. The entire set list is here.

The new album Undefeated is amazing and it was great to hear the songs live. There are too many highlights to mention without listing the entire song list. If you haven't, I highly suggest spending some time with Frank's latest album. It is solid rocking good times and possibly my favourite album of 2024.

The punk rock set kicked off with the take-no-prisioners assault of "Non Serviam" and finished with "Don't Try This At Home". If this set didn't tire out Frank's fans, then nothing will.

The encore featured deep cut "One Foot Before the Other" and ended with "Four Simple Words" and Last Evening’s ballet twirl. The evening was simply amazing.
