We've been waiting since the summer of 2019 for our Hillside fix. It's been a long time coming, but it was definitely worth it. It felt sooooo good to be back on the Hillside grounds with a community I've missed over the past years.

Hillside 2022: Texas King - Concert Photos

When I saw the name Texas King on the Hillside 2022 lineup, I nodded sagely. This will be a good set to catch. I had seen Texas King before, at CMW in 2017 and I liked what I saw and heard then.

Well five years have gone by and Texas King still rocks hard. They doled out powerful songs with huge power chords and gigantic choruses. They really got the crowd dancing and grinning. It was awesome! And they were so powerful that they killed the power. Twice.

Texas King were a definite personal highlight of Hillside 2022.

CMW 2017: Texas King at Adelaide Hall - Concert Photos

London, Ontario's Texas King came to CMW to rock. A seemingly simple mission that so many bands embark on but so few are truly successful at. The success seemed easy for Texas King as they sweated out a set of really good, high-power blues-rock with classic riffs mixed in with abundant energy and attitude.

It was power pop and high-energy rock at its finest. I was thinking I forgot the classic rockers whose influences were on display like Eddie Money, Cheap Trick, Billy Squire and Bruce Springsteen when Texas King whipped out their cover of The Boss' "Dancing in the Dark". Nice!

Go see these guys. Really. You won't regret it.
