Grouplove at The Danforth Music Hall - Concert Photos

A long time ago I saw and heard a great performance by Grouplove at Toronto's Danforth Music Hall.

They deliver such great energy and intensity to a very enthusiastic crowd. You know the energy level's high when they crowd surf in the second song. Just remember, as they said, Grouplove is about art smoking weed and being nice to people. Amen to that.

In addition to their amazing tunes and ceaseless energy, they had a killer light show. And they played The Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" with a snippet-flash of Led Zeppelin. Nice to hear them absolutely scream out that tune.

New Grouplove: Ways to Go

Grouplove's début Never Trust a Happy Song is a pop masterpiece, full of peppy, hooky, happy songs. I featured "Naked Kids" back in '11 and "Tongue Tied" in '12. It's no coincidence that their albums and singles are released in the summertime. Their easy going pop is perfect for cruising, soaking up the sun and havin' a few.

Their new album Spreading Rumours will be released on September 17. Til then, we can listen to their newest earworm, "Ways to Go".

Great summer song from Grouplove

I know it's not new, but while driving along in the scorching July weather here in Toronto, Grouplove's "Tongue Tied" came up on the radio. With the sunroof and windows open on a hot summer evening, it's a perfect song.

Summer, Grouplove wants you back, and so do I

I don't know what the weather's like where you are, but here in Toronto all the signs are pointing to the end of the summer. With this tune, "Naked Kids", by Grouplove, you can pretend it's still a hot, hot, day in June. Their new album, Never Trust a Happy Song, is out now.
