Riverfest Elora is my favourite summer music festival. It combines artists I love with new artists that I've never heard of that find a permanent spot in my music library. The vibe of the festival is chill and inviting, friendly and fun.
The 2023 edition of the festival is also their lucky 13th festival, and my sixth. And there wasn't a drop of rain during the festival!
Thanks to the Riverfest Elora team for curating and orchestrating an amazing weekend of music, fun, food and friends. And, of course, for granting me access to capture the images of the festival performers.
Follow the links below to individual posts on each artist that I covered.
I've become quite a Skye Wallace fan. I've seen the band a few times now and really dig the music. Hard rockin' tunes delivered with attitude and energy. I love it!
Skye and the band put on a great set in the Koop Tent at the 2023 edition of Riverfest Elora. They mentioned that it was their third time playing the festival. Their set covered new songs and familiar tunes, all delivered with passion and love. It was a rockin' good time!
Last night, Skye Wallace and her band took to the stage at The Axis Concert Theatre, formerly known as The Mod Club. The venue has been remodelled inside, with murals on the east wall and the raised seating area on that side of the club removed. Can't wait for more shows at one of my favourite venues.
I'd seen Skye Wallace a couple of times before and I loved what I experienced, so I wasn't going to miss their set opening for Crown Lands. My pics of them are here.
Skye and the band played a powerful, high-energy set that got everyone warmed up. The songs hit with power and passion. Skye is a magnetic performer with an emotive voice and great stage presence. The entire band rocks out, putting on a fantastic show and you can tell that they're having the best time performing for us. I'm sure they got some new fans from those who weren't already familiar with Skye Wallace's music.
Cliche to say, but no less true, Skye Wallace’s performance did not disappoint. We all had a rocking good time enjoying her powerful songs. The band was awesome and Skye is an amazing singer and magnetic frontperson. They’re obviously having a great time on stage and that translates out to the audience and back to the band. In addition to Skye’s cool original tunes, their set included a cover of The Killers’ “Somebody Told Me” which has grown into a modern-day classic.
Please give Skye Wallace’s music some time with your ears and I would definitely recommend you check out their live show when you get the chance.
All of my Riverfest Elora 2019 posts can be accessed from one master post here. I hope you'll take a look and a listen.
NXNE 2018 took place this past June and I was there to catch an awesome club show at Cherry Cola's featuring Marlon Chaplin and The Nursery, then I caught the Saturday show of NXNE's return to Yonge-Dundas Square.
As always, NXNE was a great mix of artists I knew would be amazing like Chvrches and Marlon Chaplin, plus new discoveries like Yungblud, Strands and The Nursery.
Until next year, here are links to the posts on each artist I caught during NXNE 2018. Hope you enjoy!
Skye Wallace and her band dealt out their "folk rock with shades of punk", or as I called it, good old rock songs, for the growing audience at Yonge-Dundas Square for NXNE 2018. I liked their straight-up delivery and Skye's powerful voice. They even let us have their cover of "Helter Skelter".
