I love the crazy distorted guitars and reverb soaked vocals. They even treated us to a new tune this time out. This band produces a fantastic wall of sound that washes over and through you, banishing all negativity from your mind as you float on a head-nodding cloud of fuzz.
Comet Control opened for Black Mountain at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern on July 18. After seeing them at NXNE, they were at least as big a draw for me as Black Mountain themselves. Comet Control impressed me greatly and I wanted to see how they hit me the second time around.
And what did I think? If anything, I liked them better this time. Partially, I was more familiar with the tunes. I also knew what to expect and my anticipation was high. I love this band's sound, including the grimy bass coming off the stage, the guitar sounds and intense jams, the mad scientist keyboard player, and the powerful drums holding it all together.
Comet Control are from Toronto. They impressed The Silver Dollar Room audience with their heavy 70s influenced acid rock on June 18 as part of NXNE.
This band trade in volume, sludgy deep distortion, and epic effect manipulation. They put the power in power chords. If this appeals, you won't be disappointed. They sounded great in the songs I checked out before the show and they sounded great on stage.
If you like what you hear, check them out on July 18 opening for Black Mountain at The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern. I hope to be there.
