New music from Toy: I'm Still Believing from Clear Shot

Brighton's Toy let us hear "Fast Silver" from their October 28 release Clear Shot. Now we get to hear the hazy pop track "I'm Still Believing". Its strong melodies from the chiming guitars and vocal hooks wash over you as the tune drives along.

New music from TOY: Fast Silver from Clear Shot

Brighton band TOY have a new album called Clear Shot scheduled for an October 28 release. This will be their third album and it reportedly marks a departure from their previous recordings.

The first song we get to hear from the new album is "Fast Silver". It starts off sparse and a little bluesy and thickens out to a soothing melodic mid-tempo psychedelic jam. It’s a pretty ambitious track to reveal as a first listen of a new album, but after a few listens I think it bodes well for a positively challenging release.

They've also announced some UK and EU tour dates so check those out on their site if you're in the neighbourhood.

Toy resonate at The Horseshoe

Toy are a band from the UK with a love of volume and ringing guitars and atmospherics noise and aesthetic. They brought it all to the legendary Horseshoe Tavern for their first ever show in Toronto for a great night on January 14.

I had the band's début eponymous album in my collection and I knew I liked their sound even if the tunes beyond "Motoring" weren't embedded in my consciousness. Their new album Join the Dots had just come out so I did to have a lot of time for the tunes to become familiar, outside of the title track.

No matter, I had an awesome time. They played with attitude and enjoyment and I loved every moment.

And you can add them to your list of bands who really mean it when they say, "This is our last song". I mean, you do have a list of bands that don't do encores, don't you?

Great songs from Toy

Toy have a sound that seems to be popular these days. It's also a sound that's been around for a while and has come around in a few waves. It definitely rocks, it has a psychedelic quality with the swirling guitars and keyboards, and the term "shoegaze" definitely comes to mind. I'm sure it has a fantastic wall of sound quality in a live setting. No matter whether it's new to you or you say, "Oh yeah, this sounds like...", it sounds good.
