NXNE 2017: K.I.D at Portlands - Concert Photos

Mississauga Ontario garage pop band K.I.D played cool tunes with gigantic choruses, instantly addictive hooks and heavy guitars that walk a line between pop and rock from the main stage at NXNE 2017 Portlands.

Time Festival 2016: The Artists: Run the Jewels, Broods, Kehlani, Joey Bada$$, Bob Moses, KiNK, TOKiMONSTA, Cold Cave, Chrome Sparks, Everything Everything, Tops and more - Concert Pictures

The third annual Time Festival was overall a great experience. This year’s lineup was more diverse than previous years. The mainstage had everything (everything) from indie rock to hip-hop and R&B. The Overtime stage had mostly electronic music coming off its speakers. Although the sun was harsh for most of the day people were definitely enjoying the atmosphere of a music festival in Fort York.

A few bands stood out to me from the rest, TOPS played some sweet afternoon jams. Everything Everything brought their everything to their first set ever in Canada. Jacques Greene and Chrome Sparks both were really good and hypnotized the crowd that was just looking for some shade.

Joey Badass was responsible for the first wave of excitement. He got the crowd hot and rowdy while giving a great performance and later got his brother up on stage with him.

I thought Cold Cave gave the weakest performance of the festival, which is unfortunate because I was looking forward to seeing them. They came on stage looking pissed off and then went off stage after asking someone to fix the sound. They came back on stage to complete their set but never really hit it off.

Kehlani was welcomed to the stage with some screaming fans. She delivered a nice set that appealed to a wide audience. Meanwhile at Overtime stage TOKiMONSTA danced the fans with bouncy electronic music, KiNK got his audience involved in the live music making as he showed off all his wireless electronic music gadgets.

Later, when it was completely dark, the band Bob Moses brought some mystery to the stage with mesmerizing jams that distracted the fans from the fact that Run the Jewels were performing on the main stage at that time.

In my opinion, Run the Jewels were the best performers of the festival. It was the first time I’ve seen a moshpit for a hip-hop show. The two performed their songs perfectly around huge inflatable fists that were lying on the stage. RTJ gave a lot of love to their Toronto fans.

One last highlight I’d like to mention is the ice cream truck. I’ve never thought that a $9 ice cream can totally be worth it and it was!

Time Festival was great.
