Song from Dan Auerbach's The Arcs called Stay In My Corner

The Black Keys' Dan Auerbach promised a "weird" album from his side project The Arcs. Their album Yours, Dreamily, comes out September 4 but we get to hear the laid back, retro sounding "Stay In My Corner" now. Doesn't sound too weird to me, but what the what.

New Black Keys track Fever from forthcoming Turn Blue

So Mike Tyson tweeted out info on The Black Keys new album Turn Blue. That's an original marketing idea. The album comes out May 13 and was produced by Danger Mouse.

Here's a new tune called "Fever". Love the keyboard hooks. The Black Keys always seem to be doing something different but it's always got a great hook and expands on what you thought the band was. Looking forward to this release...

And if you haven't seen it, here's the clip Mike Tyson tweeted out...

Five by Five: Five by Black

Black is about as rock and roll as a colour can be. Remember This is Spinal Tap when Nigel Tufnel describes their all-black album cover, "It's like, how much more black could this be? and the answer is none. None more black."

Here are five awesome bands who dig on the "black".

The Black Keys. Blues innovators. Hard to find a song I haven't already featured on the site, so I'm going all the way back to 2008's Attack and Release for "Strange Times".

Black Mountain. Classic rockers from BC. Since I've featured "Old Fangs" and "The Hair Song" on the site before, here's the title track from Wilderness Heart.

Nine Black Alps. Pure alternative rock from Manchester. This is the great tune "My One And Only" from their latest album, 2012's Sirens.

Black Sabbath. Original horror rockers. I'm not going to feature their new album, 13. I'm going back to the first track from the classic 1970 album Paranoid. This is "War Pigs".

The Black Crowes. Classic American rock/blues act. Here's "Twice As Hard" from their début, Shake Your Money Maker.

Five by Five: Jools Holland

Later with Jools Holland is a fantastic show in that they bring together diverse artists, present them in a true live sound setting and give exposure to new artists and established stars. If they could get Jools himself to enunciate, it would be perfect, but I'm probably reaching.

Here are five five-star rated tunes performed live on Jools.

"Paranoid Android" by Radiohead

"Tighten Up" by The Black Keys

"Glory Box" by Portishead

"Stuck Between Stations" by The Hold Steady

"Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS

The Black Keys release Little Black Submarine video

Here's another great track from The Black Keys latest album El Camino. It's for the track "Little Black Submarine". I love the mellow intro followed by the full on blues-rock groove with Jimmy Page leads that follows.

New video for Gold on the Ceiling by The Black Keys

So I saw a tweet to watch the new video for The Black Keys' song "Gold on the Ceiling" and I'm thinking, wow, welcome to several months ago, because I posted for the "Gold on the Celing" video back in February. Well, lo and behold, there's a new, new video for "Gold on the Ceiling". Here it is.

It's, um, well, it's, ahhh, interesting.

My favourite songs: Awesome and cool songs of 2010-2011: my best of list: #5: "Lonely Boy" by The Black Keys

This amazing song with a fun video is the highest placing recent song on the list. The Black Keys have come from indie obscurity to being one of the top bands in the world in the past few years, mostly with the release of Brothers. How big are they? Well, they're playing the Air Canada Centre here in Toronto this coming March. And they're not resting on their laurels, they're moving forward quickly with their newest album El Camino and the first single is a prime example of how to write a hook. "Lonely Boy" comes in at number 5.

Listen to five tracks from El Camino by The Black Keys

I've been pretty hyped about the new album from The Black Keys called El Camino that's out next Tuesday, December 6. So far the hype's been driven by the fantastic tune "Lonely Boy" that I posted a while ago.

Head over to the El Camino web site to trade some of your vital information for track access. Fair trade, as far as I'm concerned.

By the way, does anyone else remember that an El Camino is not a van?

Video from The Black Keys - Next Girl

I just happened to be surfing around and found this video from The Black Keys. It's for the song "Next Girl" from their most recent album Brothers.

I like songs in The Black Keys

I was enthralled by previous tunes I've heard from The Black Keys, but I quite like what I've heard from their current release, Brothers.

Here's "Tighten Up" and "Howlin' For You".

The video for "Howlin' For You" looks like a Tarantino movie. What you talkin' 'bout Willis?
