Riverfest Elora 2017: MGMT - Concert Pictures

To me, MGMT is a band of contradictions, their first album, Oracular Spectacular, spawned mega-hits, "Time to Pretend", "Electric Feel" and "Kids". Their follow up albums saw them purposely pulling back from the stardom that these unlikely hits created. Their psychedelic meanderings seemed purposely meant to undo any notion that they were a band producing innovative, massive pop hits.

The mix of the two styles in the live setting was a mixed bag for me. I love the big hit singles and found myself waiting for them to pop up in the set. For those who followed along with MGMT's musical shifts, I'm sure it was a fantastic headlining show to end Day 2 of Riverfest Elora 2017 with.

Riverfest Elora 2017: K.Flay - Concert Pictures

K.Flay's main stage set was a massive highlight of Riverfest Elora for me. She and her band hit the stage with great energy and dramatic delivery. The songs, which are alive with raw emotion on record, flow from the stage with power and passion, the sharp edges of her message becoming a guiding force for good.

Listen to K. Flay. I highly recommend catching her live show. I wish that I had seen her performance sooner and I don't want to miss her next time.

Riverfest Elora 2017: The Darcys - Concert Pictures

The Darcys. They've got everything: neon lights, bright coloured outfits, danceable beats, huge hooks, 80s references, Miami Vice influences, ferns, tropical vibes, illuminated palm trees, an inflatable flamingo. They are a recipe for a fun live show.

They headlined the Koop stage at Riverfest Elora and had an excited crowd lap up every beat, hip sway and bit of musical sunshine.

Riverfest Elora 2017: DJ Jazzy Jeff and Skratch Bastid - Concert Pictures

DJ Jazzy Jeff and Skratch Bastid played songs that got the crowd bouncing with wild abandon from the main stage at Riverfest Elora. A true highlight of the day for many fans I spoke to.

Riverfest Elora 2017: Hollerado - Concert Pictures

Ottawa indie rock band Hollerado delivered fun and hard rocking' tunes to the main stage of Riverfest Elora in a true highlight of the Saturday lineup. The melody and bounce of their tunes kept the crowd energy high and positive. This was my first time catching the band live and I certainly hope it won't be my last.
