Sophie Powers was up first on stage at Toronto's History on Tuesday night. It was my first time experiencing this artist and I came away impressed. Her bio, in part, reads that Sophie is on a mission to reinject genuine emotion into a pop landscape that’s more alienated than ever. Sounds like an ambitious goal and based on the response her performance got, I think she's on the way to achieving that goal.
Sophie’s set was a lot of fun. She got great responses from the crowd to her energetic and catchy tunes. I caught a bit of a 90s vibe to some of her tunes, and I'm not just thinking of their cover of Nirvana's "Heart Shaped Box". I like the attitude and I’m looking forward to more tunes and performances.
Sophie warmed up the crowd for Yungblud and The Regrettes. Check out my coverage of their sets by clicking here and here.
