The Go! Team at The Great Hall - Concert Photos
The Go! Team have a sound like no other. It's describe on Wikipedia as a combination of, "indie rock and garage rock with a mixture of blaxploitation and Bollywood soundtracks, double Dutch chants, old school hip hop and distorted guitars." Yeah. Indeed. Wow.
When I first heard their debut album Thunder, Lightning, Strike back in around 2005, I was simultaneously blown away and enthralled by the unique mash-up that The Go! Team creates. It took me until last week to experience that energy live and capture a show with my lens.
From the opening of "Flashlight Fight" all the way through to getting everyone jumping for show closer "The Power Is On" I loved the amazing energy that never ceases to bring a smile to my face. Amazing show. My only regret is that it took this long for me to experience it.
Enjoy some tunes from their set:
"Mayday"
"Ladyflash"
"Semicircle Song"
"Get It Together"
"Rolling Blackouts"
"The Scene Between"
"Everyone's a V.I.P. to Someone"
"Huddle Formation"
"All the Way Live"
"The Power Is On"

Basement Revolver at The Great Hall - Concert Photos
Hamilton indie rock band Basement Revolver took to The Great Hall stage last Friday night, opening for London's The Go! Team. The earnest, dynamic, emotional and well-delivered tunes warmed us up even as singer Chrisy Hurn promised that the songs would make us sad before The Go! Team hit the stage to make us happy.
Check out their music and go see them live:

Lo Moon at The Drake Underground - Concert Photos
It was a cold and very rainy early spring night in Toronto when I headed to The Drake Underground to see Los Angeles indie pop band Lo Moon. We got a stadium sized show in an intimate venue with the focus on their easy going yet powerful and very polished sound.
They opened their first headlining Toronto show with the excellent "This Is It" and proceeded through a solid main set. "All In" was the first song of encore, and it was performed on solo piano. This was followed by the song so many were waiting for, "Loveless". The full setlist is here.
Give the band a listen below:

"Thorns"
"My Money"
"Real Love"

Kraus at The Drake Underground - Concert Photos
The guys from Kraus left a pile of earplugs on The Drake Underground stage. As the duo took to stage, they announced that there were piles of earplugs at the bar and at the merch table, too. A hint, perhaps?
Kraus then began their set. Their music was definitely loud. It was also aggressive. unrelenting, yet somehow soothing and atmospheric. The proverbial iron fist in the velvet glove. Check out some of their tunes below and head over to their Bandcamp to purchase.
