SOAK's latest album, Grim Town, came out earlier this year and entered instant heavy rotation in my library. Both singles so far, "Knock Me Off My Feet" and "Déjà Vu", have embedded themselves in my consciousness with their elegant melodies and addictive hooks. Definitely "Best of 2019" material.
I knew going into this show that I love SOAK's music. The performance only solidified it, with a fantastic band, humble yet endearing stage presence with thoughtful, introspective and humourous stories, and perfect delivery. SOAK and her band played a set that varied from quiet, contemplative songs to those with big, catchy choruses and power chords.
I can't give a strong enough recommendation to listen to SOAK's music and see them perform live.
Here are some of the highlight tunes from SOAK's fantastic set:
"Knock Me Off My Feet"
"B a noBody"
"Blud"
"Valentine Shmalentine"
"Déjà Vu"
"Sea Creatures"
"Everybody Loves You"
