I caught Morakoza's live show when they opened for The C'Mons back in February. They've released a couple of tracks and now have an EP called Society out. It's a genre-bending and ambitious release that features collaborations with different artists on each of the tracks.
You can check it out now via Soundcloud and you can download through Bandcamp as of August 19.
Give it a listen:
"Cold" features Spek Won and is the big, broad-chorused single. A great tune to sway back and forth and bob your head to.
"Free Pistonhead" features Porter Jae. The lyrical and rhythmic cadence loops and rolls and becomes hypnotic. Nice.
"Polaroid Drawer" features Nick Scott, Wojtek Janda and Andrew Thomas on horns, brass and stuff. It starts off with Andy Summers'-style chorused guitar. This tune shifts gears and dynamics throughout while the horns add classy accents.
"Backseat" features Tatiana Haas on vocals and Jesse Manou who produced the track and added some synth and other cool stuff. A little trip-hoppy at the beginning and evolves into full-on jam mode by the end.
This unique band has tons of potential and I look forward to tracking their ascent. If you like what you hear, check them out live at The Silver Dollar Room on Thursday night, August 14 with The Box Tiger and Waterbodies.
