This particular show was an amazing testament to where the band is at present. Two incredible albums in, they are a live show powerhouse, and they're doing whatever they can with their fame and profile to make the world a better place, creating safe spaces for everyone who attends their shows, and being uncompromising in their drive for empowerment, equality and diversity. I'm not alone in cheering for them and hoping for more success on all fronts.
Their set was, of course, jam-packed with amazing tunes from across their growing discography. They opened with "Summer Dress" and progressed through so many of my personal and audience favourites, including an impassioned "Gentleman", "Beck + Call", now classic "Guns + Ammunition", "Blood + Honey" and they closed out the main set with "Picturing Love", "My Neck" and "Push + Pull". The encore featured a tribute of "Respect" for the recently-departed Aretha Franklin, and they closed it all down with "The Garden". Magical.
It's with mixed emotions that we received the news that this would be the band's last show for a very long time as they’re going to make a new record. They asked if we would you like them to come back here and play it for us. Of course we would. Please, please do!
