Passenger is Michael David Rosenberg. He's an English folk singer-songwriter. I had heard good things about him before The Toronto Urban Roots Festival but frankly his quiet acoustic tunes didn't bring up my enthusiasm too much in the days leading up to the show. But it's a good thing to be wrong. And this is a fine example of why TURF is an amazing festival for turning people on to new artists and why live on stage is where many artists excel.

Passenger is highly entertaining and his songs come off very well live, especially given a very enthusiastic crowd that knows every word and isn't shy about singing along. His between-song banter is quite funny. He did tell us that we didn't have to be quiet. And he did tell us about how his pants were very tight.
