Death From Above 1979 have a pretty huge influence for a band that have only released two full length albums, and built 90% of that influence on the strength of one album, 2004's
You're a Woman, I'm a Machine. That album spawned such huge hits as "Romantic Rights", "Blood on Our Hands" and "Black History Month". They broke up in 2006, got back together in 2011, released their second album,
The Physical World, and played Day 1 of Toronto's Riot Fest.
I think that every photographer who was at Riot Fest was in the photo pit for Death From Above 1979's set. The sheer number of photographers, combined with the fact that they played the Riot Stage, which had extra speakers and lights taking up space in the photo pit, made it a crazy act to shoot. Good thing there are only two of them.
How was Death From Above 1979's Riot Fest show, you ask? It was exactly what you'd expect. High intensity, loud, and tight as can be. A triumphant return.
