CMW 2016: Partner at The Silver Dollar Room - Concert Pictures

I first caught Sackville, New Brunswick band Partner live back in February as part of Wavelength Festival. Those pics are here. When I saw they were performing a three-night stand at The Silver Dollar Room for this year's Canadian Music Week, I knew I wanted to see them again. I caught their performance on May 4 as part of the Ride The Tempo-curated bill. If you possibly can, check out one of their shows on May 5 or 6.

This band is a tight, powerful live act and only seems to be getting better over time. One thing that stands out for me is Josee Caron's excellent guitar soloing. Guitar solos have become something of a lost art. Partner are a band that features three guitarists and great crunchy rhythm guitar parts. However, Josee Caron can rip up an incendiary guitar solo, too. Very nice to hear! There are even some harmony guitar parts.

The band's tunes are tight power pop gems worthy of repeated listenings and I don't think I'm alone in looking forward to more recorded tunes to enjoy and more high-energy live performances.
